Welcome to Taznet Zimbabwe

According to Royal Pingdom website  http://royal.pingdom.com/2011/05/12/the-top-20-strongholds-for-desktop-linux/ Zimbabwe is the highest desktop user of linux in Africa yet for all these years there is no accredited Linux Professional Institute Training center in the Country. The power of Linux and Open Source applications should never be overlooked especially in developing economies of the World, Zimbabwe included.

For these reasons we saw the need to start an Open Source Company to address and meet the needs of people of Zimbabwe. Taznet is a company started by young and Talented individuals with the plite of the people at heart and passion for Open Source.

For this reason I write this blog pleading with my Government of zimbabwe to adopt an Open source Policy to help drive our economy. Benefits are immense.

Foreign currency Saving Initiative - This Requires The Government of Zimbabwe to use Open Source Software whenever possible. Everywhere throughout the world, the government is a huge spender and a huge customer for closed source proprietary software which incurs an unnecessary expense to taxpayers in software licensing fees.

The general philosophy of open source software is that "more heads are better than one" when it comes to developing a logical solution to problem-solving. In open source there are no License fees and recurring hidden cost. Users get to pay for support or service delivery which is nothing compared to Licensing fees. Since most software is imported from abroad, Foreign Currency is needed. The Zimbabwe Government is currently in Financial crisis hence going Open Source is the most noble Idea and will go a long way in helping the recovery of the Economy.

Using open source software in Government Institutions and even encouraging its use in schools will save tons of money and will also avoid potential corporate influence on the Governmental Infrastructure. For example if separate government offices wanted to integrate their systems it could be done without being at the mercy of a huge corporate vendor's prerogative in opening their proprietary formats
